and the Presentation of Mucha Art Inc."

Alfons Mucha is one of the most famous
Art Nouveau painters. He was born on July 24, 1860 in Ivancice. He
studied art in Paris where he achieved success as author of theatre
posters for Sarah Bernhardt. He applied his art not only in graphics
and painting, but became famous also as a designer of jewellery,
glass, furniture, theatre decoration and costumes. He also designed
the first Czech postal stamp. In 1910, he painted a cycle of twenty
momumental pictures called "Slavic Epopee," scenes from the past of
Slavic nations, which ranked him among significant artists. His work
has a unique place in the history of world painting. Alfons Mucha
died on July 14, 1939.
